Canonical: https://vonza.com/blog/order-bump-examples An order bump is a small extra offer placed on the checkout page, right next to the payment form. The buyer adds it with one tick before paying, and it is charged in the same payment as the item they came to buy. Done well, it is the easiest sale you will ever make, because the buyer has already decided to buy. This post gives 10 order bump examples for creators, coaches and small sellers, then shows how to write one and add it to a Vonza checkout. ## What makes a good order bump A good bump is chosen for the buyer of one specific item, not for every buyer. Every example below follows the same four rules: 1. **It is related.** The bump makes the main item better, faster or easier to use. A workbook for a course works; an unrelated product does not. 2. **It is small.** The price is a fraction of the main item, so the buyer can say yes without thinking twice. 3. **It is instant or obvious.** Digital extras the buyer gets the moment they pay are the easiest yes. Physical ones work too, as long as shipping is clear. 4. **It is explained in one line.** There is no room for a sales page. One sentence on why it is worth it has to do the job. An order bump is not the same as an upsell. The bump is ticked on the checkout before paying; an upsell is offered after payment, on its own screen. Read [how one-click upsells work](https://vonza.com/one-click-upsell) for the second half of that pair. ## 10 order bump examples ### 1. The workbook for an online course **Main item:** a self-paced course. **Bump:** printable worksheets or templates for every module. Students use it from the first lesson, and you make it once. ### 2. Session recordings for a coaching programme **Main item:** a group coaching programme with live calls. **Bump:** recordings of every call to keep. Buyers who worry about missing a session have their answer. ### 3. A welcome call for a membership **Main item:** a monthly membership. **Bump:** a one-off 20-minute welcome call. On Vonza this is a custom bump: a line on the bill for something you deliver yourself. ### 4. A starter course for a paid community **Main item:** a paid community. **Bump:** a short starter course that gets new members going on day one. ### 5. The audiobook with the ebook **Main item:** an ebook. **Bump:** the audio version. The same content, another way to use it. ### 6. A done-for-you review with a template pack **Main item:** a pack of templates. **Bump:** you review the buyer’s first finished template. It turns a download into a service, and it is another custom bump. ### 7. Priority support for software or a toolkit **Main item:** a toolkit or plugin. **Bump:** faster replies for the first 90 days. ### 8. A small accessory with a physical product **Main item:** a physical product such as a planner. **Bump:** a matching accessory, with its shipping added to the bump so it travels in the same order. ### 9. The next level, at a launch price **Main item:** a beginner course. **Bump:** the intermediate module, priced for buyers who add it now. ### 10. A bonus bundle for an event ticket **Main item:** a workshop or event ticket. **Bump:** the slides and the replay. ## How to write the bump You have a title, one line and a price, so make each one count: - **Title:** name the thing, not the benefit. "Workbook Bundle" reads faster than "Accelerate your results". - **One line:** say what it does for this buyer, now. "Printable worksheets for every module" is enough. - **Price:** show it plainly, as an addition: "+$29". - **Picture:** optional, but a small image of the extra helps it stand out from the payment form. ## Should a bump be ticked by default? Some sellers start the bump ticked so the buyer has to untick it. Be careful with that choice. In the European Union, the Consumer Rights Directive (Article 22) says a seller must get the buyer’s express consent for any extra payment, and that if consent was inferred from a pre-ticked default the buyer had to reject, the buyer is entitled to a refund of that payment. If you sell to buyers in the EU, leave bumps unticked and let buyers choose. On Vonza, "Ticked by default" is a setting on each bump, and it is off unless you switch it on. ## How to add an order bump on Vonza 1. Open your checkout in the designer, go to **Bump offers** and switch on "Show bump offers at checkout". 2. Add an offer: pick **Something you sell** (a course, product, membership, bundle or community, given to the buyer the moment they pay) or **Custom** (something you deliver yourself). Write the title, one line and the price, and add shipping if it is a physical product. 3. Add up to 4 more, choose whether each starts ticked, and publish. Orders with bumps send an itemised email to the buyer and to you, and Vonza will not charge a buyer for an item they already own. The same idea works in a funnel’s checkout step and on payment forms, each with up to 5 extras. See every option on the [order bumps](https://vonza.com/order-bumps) page, or start from the [checkout page builder](https://vonza.com/checkout). An order bump is a small extra offer on the checkout page, next to the payment form. The buyer adds it with a tick before paying, and it is charged in the same payment as the main item. ### How much should an order bump cost? Well below the main item. A bump is an impulse decision made in a few seconds, so it works best when the price feels small next to what the buyer is already paying. ### How many order bumps can I add on Vonza? Up to 5 on a Vonza checkout, up to 5 on a funnel’s checkout step and up to 5 add-ons on a payment form.
